Peru 2007, the Blog

Welcome to the Peru 2007 Official Blog Site. This is not a public site. Only those that know the web address can get to this site. This is known as a Team Blog, which means more than one person can add posts to it. You become a member of this Team Blog by being invited. That happens by receiving an email invitation. Members of this Blog must be members of Blogger or sign up for Blogger. That just means getting a user name and a password. All of this is free, easy, simple and comes with no strings attached.

We thought this Blog would be a great way for the Team Members going to Peru to stay in touch, get information, share, ask questions, show pictures, tell stories, make plans, keep up to date, stay connected, keep in touch, get to know each other and do whatever else we might want to do before and after the trip this February. So all of the Peru Team will be able to post on this Blog. Then the idea came up to have past Amazon travelers join up so that they might share their wisdom and experience and expand this forum to include more people. What do you think?

Initially we will have every member going to Peru this time join up and have post writing privileges. We will give out the address to other individuals that have gone on the trip in the past that might provide useful information and invite them to read along and add comments to our posts as they can to contribute their insights and input. If this is not working or if it is not what we want to see happen, then we can change how we are doing it.

This is the first time for using this type of communication technology for this kind of project in this kind of way. Therefore, we are learning about it as we go along. I imagine it will seem like we do not know what we are doing and we will be changing and trying new and different things as we go along as we figure out what the potential for this method might be. Rest assured for those of you who have not been on a trip like this before, do not be fooled by what might look like a little bumbling around with figuring out the new Blog idea, we are considerably more experienced and competent when it comes to the actual trip part. I am excited about the possible contributions this new communications medium can add to the richness of everyone's experience.

This is just a start; just wait until we get rolling. By the way, for Blogs to work really well, people need to check them on a regular basis. Even better, they need to post on them on a regular basis. Ideally, we need new posts of one sort or another on here every day. That makes it easier to check daily because there is something new and interesting to reward you for looking. I think this will be an active, lively, interesting, informative and useful site.
